Advice for Hannah

Hannah is a new blogger and has asked me for advice in a comment on my blog. Here is the link to her blog.

Here is my advice to Hannah:

Dear Hannah,

I'm glad that you enjoy my blog.

Here is some advice for you on writing a blog:

1. You can post about anything you do. It's kind of like a diary only people can see it.

2. Don't post things that are really personal and you don't want anybody to know.

3. Take lots of pictures and ask your parents to take pictures of you doing things so people can see what your life is like. I think pictures describe you more.

4. Write about your feelings and what you think about things.

5. You can also post your school work on your blog if you want to. I have posted some of mine.

6. Post a lot so that people will keep reading and are still interested in your blog.

My Favorite Season

My favorite season is summer because I get to play softball. Softball is awesome because I get to pitch sometimes and I get a chance to hit the ball and sometimes I get a chance to try and catch a ball. I really like softball.

I like playing outside in the summer because it's fun and warm. I like playing with water toys so we can cool down. I also like playing baseball, kickball, riding bikes, riding scooters, playing hide-and-seek, and going for walks. This is why summer is my favorite season.

Happiness

One of the things that makes me happy is finishing a book because I feel like all my hard work paid off. When I finish a book and get to tell everybody that I finished a book, I feel very proud of myself. I like when I finish a book because I get to put it on my reading log. I like to look back and see how much I have improved over the year. I have noticed that every book I read is harder. This is one of things that makes me happy.

Frustration

One of the things that makes me feel frustrated is when I make lots of mistakes. When I read and I make a lot of mistakes, I get really frustrated because I want to know all the words. I don't want to ask my mom all the big words. I wish I could figure those out on my own and not ask her for help. Also, writing is frustrating when I leave off the endings of words. Endings are kind of important. When my mom comes to help me edit, lots of my mistakes are the endings of words. I always feel frustrated about making lots of mistakes.

Revised Fiction Story

This week I have been learning about revision. I revised my fiction story from the last blog post. Here is my revision. Tell me if you like it better this way or if you like it better the other way.

No, I can not think of anything to write about, wait, I just did. I think that I have to tell a fiction story.

In the middle of the night, a baby named Merrick started crying his head off. His mom and dad did not know what to do. They asked, “Should we feed him or change him or let him sleep with us?” Then finally they changed him and discovered that he had diarrhea. Then they discovered that the diarrhea had leaked all over Merrick’s clothes, so Merrick’s Mom and Dad gave Merrick a bath to clean him up. Then they put Merrick on their bed and sang some lullabies to him and in five minutes he was asleep. They carried him to his crib and watched Merrick to make sure he was ok. Merrick’s mom and Dad were still really worried.

But then, Merrick’s 2 year old sister, Mara, started crying her head off. Her parents said, “Not again,” to each other. They went into Mara’s room and decided to change her. She had diarrhea, too. Mara’s parents tried to get Mara in the bath but she wouldn’t go into the bath. So her Mom and Dad put Mara’s favorite bath toy in the bathtub. Mara got clean then she did not want to get out of the bathtub. So they took the bath toy away and got Mara out of the bathtub. Her parents put her on their bed and sang some lullabies to her. She was asleep in one minute. Mara’s Mom and Dad carried her back to her room and put her in her crib. They watched Mara to make sure she was ok. Mara’s parents were still really worried.

Suddenly, Merrick and Mara’s 4 year old brother, Jimmy, came out of his room and said “Mommy and Daddy, I had an accident.” “This is gross,” said Jimmy’s mom. They checked Jimmy’s underwear and discovered that Jimmy had diarrhea. So they put Jimmy in the bath. After a little while, Jimmy wanted all the bath toys in the bathtub. So Jimmy’s parents got all the bath toys for Jimmy to play with and then when he was clean he did not want to get out. He played and played. After 2 hours his parents got him out of the bath and got him ready for bed. They put him on their bed and sang to him but Jimmy did not want to go to sleep. His parents finally got him to sleep. They carried him to his bed and tucked Jimmy in bed. They watched him to make sure Jimmy was ok. They were still really worried about all 3 children.

The next morning they took the kids to the doctor. The doctor said that they all had colds. The doctor said that the colds would only last up to five days to a week. The parents hoped the colds would only last for five days. All the kids got better in five days. The parents weren’t really worried anymore.

POOP IN THE POOL

Yesterday my mom and I went to the pool. We were only in the pool for an hour because the lifeguards started circling the pool to see if there was poop in the pool and sure indeed there was! So the lifeguards blew their whistle and the lifeguards said there was poop in the pool so we got out right away. We took a shower then we went to the outside pool and I played in the outside pool. When we went to the locker room the lifeguards were still working on the pool. Then we came home and took another shower.

PS This was my first time typing my own blog post and it took a long time. I have been learning to type. I know the home row keys and the top row keys. I still need to learn the bottom row keys.

Rocky

Rocky is my next door neighbor's guinea pig. I have him because my next door neighbor's are in Chicago. Rocky is white and black. Rocky's cage has white bars and the bottom is purple and his cage also has wheels. Rocky also has an underground place and he likes to hang out under there. Rocky has a green snack bowl that he likes to tip over. Rocky eats carrots and lettuce for his meals.

A Poem for Ms. MaKayla and Mr. Philip

Merrick is cute and cuddly
Anything you could possibly be
As a baby boy.
He gets really mad sometimes but
His Mom and Dad fix it up.
I know his Mom and Dad work very hard
But sometimes it's hard.
Everybody gets to hold Merrick.
Merrick really likes being held.
So sweet.
He doesn't stay awake very long.
But now he can stay awake much longer than he could do when he was just born.
