Bermuda

My assignment was to find 10 facts about Bermuda. I did some research online and then had a Skype conversation with Shannon James (who my Dad found through Twitter) and his wife. Here are my 10 facts and the video of my Skype conversation.

1. Bermuda was first settled in 1609 by shipwrecked English colonists headed for Virginia.
2. It is about one-third the size of Washington, DC.
3. The weather is mild and humid with strong winds common in winter.
4. Bermuda can have hurricanes that are really devastating.They have had 2 really devastating ones in the last 30 years.
5. They get all their water from the roofs of their houses when it rains. The water is stored in tanks until they need to use the water.
6. They play lots of soccer and the girls play a  sport that they call netball. It is like basketball without the backboard.
7. They are only allowed to have one car per house.
8. The mostly speak English (official) and 20 to 30% speak Portuguese and some speak a different language.
9. They eat a lot of fresh fish. A favorite meal is fish cakes, potatoes and bananas.
10. About 70,000 people live in Bermuda. Bermuda is about 24 miles long. Hamilton is the capital.

My Trip to Kentucky

I went to Kentucky to see my Grandparents, my aunt, my uncle and cousin. It was really fun to be there because it was really fun to play with Mara (my cousin). Mara loved playing with me she knew how to say my name. Mara also talks mostly in sentences to me. Mara also liked to do a lot of stuff with me. She really liked to go for walk around the blocks and she called it a baby walk. She liked going for walks because she loved watching the birds and the bees. She also liked to color and she always wanted the purple. Here are some pictures and a movie.

The Night-Night Game

When I was two years old, I played a game with my parents. We called it the Night-Night game. I would drag my parents into separate bedrooms. I would take my mom to my bedroom and I would take my dad to my parent’s bedroom. I would walk back to my room and cover my mom up with a doll blanket and say, “Night-Night” and turn off the light and close the door. Then I would walk to my parent’s room and cover my dad up with a doll blanket and say, “Night-Night” and turn off the light and close the door. After that I would go back to my room and knock on the door and I would say, “Knock, knock, morning!” to wake up my mom. Then I would go knock on my parent’s door and wake up my dad. I did this over and over and over again. I did not say the words correctly, but my parents could understand what I was saying. As you can imagine I had a lot of fun playing the Night-Night game.

Music Recital March 1, 2008

My recital was the same day as my birthday party. I was graduating from Children’s Music Academy and played the recorder, the piano, and the guitar. My teacher Miss Penny was a very nice teacher. I had two solos and here is a movie.

My softball season just ended yesterday and I got my trophy. I’ve got two trophies from softball and two trophies from basketball because I’ve played two years of basketball and one year of t-ball and one year of softball. Here is a movie of me playing softball earlier in the year.

I have a knitting video to show you guys on my blog. This video has Grandma F. helping me knit. I like knitting. And Grandpa F. taught me how to play cribbage. I’ve beaten my Dad a bunch of times.



I have one butterfly on my house. He was just staying right there. And I got a lot of pictures of him. His wings were so pretty.
