November 22, 2007 - Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving. I helped peel the potatoes. I helped stir things. This was for the Thanksgiving dinner. I’m thankful for my teachers. I’m thankful for my Webkinz. I’m thankful for my Mom and Dad and the house. I’m thankful we have enough food and that the grocery store is really close to here. I’m thankful for all my friends. I’m thankful for my Grandma and Grandpa F and S, Uncle John, Uncle Mike and Aunt Martha.

October 24, 2007 - Animal Kingdom

Today I went to Animal Kingdom. We rode on the Primeval Whirl roller coaster seven times. I rode with my Dad and my Grandma and I liked it.

I took the safari ride and saw hippos, elephants, giraffes, lions and other animals.

We went on the Kali River Rapids water ride two times. We had to wear our ponchos and we got all wet and it was fun. You go up this big hill and then you don’t go very fast down, but you do get wet and you see a pretend fire. At the end people think they are all done getting wet, but there’s a switch up on the bridge that people can push and when you push it the elephants at the end squirt water on them.

We rode on a train and got off the train and we went into a petting zoo. In the petting zoo I brushed the goats. They came out of the ropes sometimes because it’s a petting zoo and they can walk around and they can go into the other rope area. It was neat because they felt good.

October 23, 2007 - Clearwater Beach

Today I went to Clearwater Beach. I built a sandcastle like the one I saw on Reading Rainbow. I got water in a bucket. Then I put sand in there. Then I scooped the sand out with my hand and drizzled it on the sand castle. It makes a drizzled sand castle. We saw another man build an alligator out of sand.

We also played in the ocean. We played splash and jumped over the waves.


The signs were up that said stringrays were in the water sometimes and we should watch out carefully for them. We did not see any.

October 22, 2007 - Epcot Center

Today we went to Epcot Center. I rode a boat ride called Living with the Land two times. I really liked it because we got to see fish, alligators, a rainforest with pretend alligators, pumpkins, and lots of other plants growing.

I traded lanyard pins. These are pins about Disney that you trade with other people and when you get them you put them on a strap you wear around your neck. I traded with people who work at Disney.

I went on a Nemo ride. I rode in a type of clam and saw jellyfish. We saw Nemo and Nemo’s Dad and Dory. After we got off the ride we saw a dolphin show. The dolphin smiled at us and the trainer made some hand motions and the dolphin would do them.

We went to a restaurant called The Nine Dragons at the China Pavilion. I tried some new kinds of food. I didn’t like some but I ate it because I didn’t have to eat all of it. I found some that I really liked, too.

I got to make chocolate chip cookies. When we were making the cookies they put it in this magic oven and the cookies came out cooked in a just a few seconds.

October 21, 2007 - Sea World

Today we went to Sea World. I saw three shows. I saw an animal one that had dogs, cats, a skunk, a pig, a rat and that’s all. I liked it. I watched the Shamu whale show, too. I liked when the trainers did a Shamu chant and I joined in with some hand motions. The whales liked the fish a lot so they always wanted to get a fish when they did something right. It was very, very, very, very fun.

The third show I saw was a walrus and two sea lions. The sea lions were taken care of by a pirate.

I fed the stingrays and the dolphins. The stingrays are a little bit harder to feed because they don’t come out of the water you have to put your hand under the water as far as you can. Then they come and take the fish out of your hand. But the dolphins don’t do that. You hold the fish by the tail and you leave it out of the water and then the dolphins come and get it. When the dolphins come I drop the fish into their mouths. I like feeding the dolphins better than the stingrays, but they’re both cool.

I went into climbing nets and I climbed up the nets. After a while it felt easy because I’d been doing it over and over and over. After a while my Dad came on there, too.

I rode the Journey to Atlantis ride at the end. It was scary for a minute there because there was big green eyes and then he poked out at us when we went through. Then we went up this giant hill and we went really fast down and we got splashed. And then we went back up by the same hill we went down on and we went down another hill in the dark. When we got off it was raining so we got even more wet.

October 20, 2007 - Magic Kingdom

Yesterday I came to Florida. Today I went to Magic Kingdom and I rode almost all the rides. I’ll tell you all the rides I rode and I’ll tell you who rode them with me. We drove a car and I went with my Dad. We did that two times.



I also went on a roller coaster with my Dad and a second time with my Grandma.


I went on Splash Mountain and you go up this really big hill and then you go down really fast and you get splashed usually but we didn’t too bad. Some people get a big splash and we just got a little splash. That was a good ride.



I went on It’s A Small World and everybody came with me and I’ll tell you who they are - my dad, my Mom, my Grandma and Grandpa. It was dolls and they were singing “It’s A Small World After All”.


We went on Pirates of the Caribbean and I went on there even though I was nervous about the pirates. I got my face painted like a tiger and I got sparkles but I wanted to get it off after I started rubbing it in my eyes.

October 13, 2007 - Going To Florida

We are going to Florida to see my Grandma and Grandpa S. and Uncle Mike on my Mom’s side of the family. And their friends Rich and Vera. We are going to be there for about a whole week. Here are the things we’re going to do while we’re there: Disney World – it has three parts of it (Epcot, Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom), Sea World, and the beach. At Sea World I am going to feed dolphins and I get to touch and feed sting rays, too. The dolphins come right up to your hand when they see the fish

September 9, 2007 - Camp Jackson

I went to Camp Jackson on Thursday and Friday. My Dad came with me as a chaperone for the boys. It was a two-hour bus ride. As soon as we got there we got into our cabin groups and that’s also our activity groups. We had to go up a really, really big hill to get up to our cabins. I got to sleep on the bunk above Ms. Hanni.

After unpacking, all the grownups had to go into one room and all the kids had to go into another. Our leaders were Edd, Shane, Amy and Doug. They talked about their learning targets and how we should work together and that’s pretty much all. And then we did one group activity and went to lunch. If you put your elbows on the table then you had to run around the dining hall and everyone else sang, “Elbows, elbows on the table. This is not a horse’s stable. Back around the other way, other way, other way, back around the other way, you were naughty.”

After lunch we did some team building activities like standing on skinny pieces of logs and go to a big stick. We had one team but we split into two groups on separate logs. We started moving using Kaylee’s idea and that seemed to be working and the other team saw and that seemed to be working too. Another activity was in Jackson Lodge where we ran into a circle and we had the numbers 1 to 25 on paper plates in a circle. We had to run into the circle and step on one plate at a time and go in order from 1 to 25. But only one person was supposed to be in the circle at a time otherwise that would be a penalty. We were trying to do this as fast as possible. I had an idea to make a line outside of Jackson Lodge and then one person go in at a time and then everybody could get a turn if they wanted. My idea worked. We also did other team building activities.

We had a campfire at nighttime and everybody had to bring their flashlights so we could find our way back to our cabins. They played out stories and sang songs. You always know when a story or song is done because they sing “Rik. Tik. Rickety-Rik. Oompah. Oompah. Oy.” And then Edd says, “Louder!” And then all the kids sing it even louder. If he says louder again then lots of kids scream it.

We went on a hike through the woods. We stopped for two rests and we played two little games. The first game was asking our teachers questions about them. We were sitting in a circle and a teacher was in the middle and they each got 2 minutes for kids asking them questions about themselves. Then the second teacher got the same thing. The second game was we had to tell one lie and two true things about yourself and they had to raise their hands for which one they thought was a lie. My three were, “I ride a bus to school,” “I love baby dolls,” and “I like sports.” Riding a bus to school was a lie because my Mom works at my school now and I ride with her.

I like Camp Jackson.

September 8, 2007 - A New Josie

I got a new Josie. She came on Friday. Here is a picture of her and my old Josie. They are twins. I got the rest of the money by dog sitting Scruffy which if you read my blog you know who Scruffy is. If you haven’t read my blog, then you don’t know who Scruffy is before you come to this post. Her clothes are different than Josie’s because she has purple and old Josie has never had purple before. I tell them apart because old Josie has a little dot for an eyebrow and new Josie does not have eyebrows.

September 7, 2007 - Riding on Air Scruffy

I was walking Scruffy and we were on the street to go home. And then he saw a bunny rabbit and he started running when I was talking to my Dad. I fell down but the first thing I said before I started crying was, “Get Scruffy!” And then I started crying and I was bleeding on my third finger, my wrist, and my elbow. I scraped a lot of skin off. Later that day his owners came home and got him.

September 2, 2007 - More About Scruffy

Scruffy wanted to go for a walk before we even had breakfast. And then we couldn’t take him for his evening walk because it was raining. We brushed him and gave him Cheerios because that's what makes him hold still. And then we gave him a bone. I read to him while he chewed his bone. I read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

September 1, 2007 - Scruffy the Puppy

Today Scruffy was really like a puppy. He chewed up things and got things he wasn’t supposed to. He got dirt out of the tree in our house (editor’s note: fake moss in a fake plant). He got the newspaper and chewed it up. He got the poop bag when we were outside and ran around with it.

We took him for a walk in the morning and then we are going to take him for a walk after I get finished with this blog post.

August 31, 2007 - Taking Care of Scruffy

This is the weekend that I’m taking care of Scruffy. He gets to sleep in my bedroom. But first he has to be in the kennel – not all the time, but most of the time he’s in my room. Scruffy went to doggy day care today and then he gets to stay home on the weekend. He got a bath and something like a doggy ice cream treat. He didn’t like the hair dryer so he felt a little damp when I got home.

August 27, 2007 - A Class Fish

Ms. Hanni got our class a fish over the weekend. We named him Fire Tiger Flower because we did a human graph. Fire had the most, which was 9. And then Tiger was 3. Then Flower was 2. The fish is reddish-orangish. His fins look like fire because they’re like floppy. William is our fish feeder, but we’re only supposed to give him a little bit of food each day. William is going to be the fish feeder for one week and then somebody else is going to be the fish feeder for the next week.

August 26, 2007 - Things I Like To Do In My Neighborhood

I made this picture of me and my friends playing because I really like to play with friends. This picture wasn’t an ordinary picture because those were things I like to do in my neighborhood. It was an assignment from my teacher (Ms. Hanni) and she hung it up by our cubbies in the hallway.

August 25, 2007 - Self Portrait

Here is my self-portrait. Even though I know my face isn’t gray and my teeth aren’t yellow, I just like to draw that way. This was also an assignment, too, and Ms. Hanni hung it up in the classroom.

August 14, 2007

I have my own toolkit in math. It is where I keep my supplies for math. There’s only three things in it right now. There’s my coins, my stencil thingies, and a clock. I use it for math to help me do my second grade math journal.

Math was about clocks today. Ms. Hanni did it on her clock and we did it on our clock. They are not real clocks, they are play clocks. We were practicing telling time. We had to try to figure out how to put the big hand and the little hand and if she nodded her head you got it right, and if she didn’t nod her head you got it wrong. Let’s say she says “eight-oh-five” and the kids have to do it on our clocks.

I’ve got a blood blister. I went to the doctor and we have to put special cream on it and take medicine three times a day and soak my foot. I think I got it because of my shoe rubbing and it really hurt so I had to put an ice pack on it but that didn’t help – nothing helped. The purple marker in the picture is around the edge of where the swelling was.

On Thursday I went in the air castle in Camelot – Camelot is my daycare. We couldn’t do tricks in the air castle and only five kids at a time could be in the air castle. We just jumped and played corner crashing.

I met my teacher on Thursday and her name is Ms. Hanni. This was a conference for me to get to know Ms. Hanni and some other kids. I had to find my supplies – it was kind of like a scavenger hunt, and I had to draw a picture of what I like to do in my neighborhood. Ms. Hanni read us a book about crayons. The crayons were being mean to each other and weren’t being nice. But then all the colors started to like each other and said that if they couldn’t work together we couldn’t do a very good job. That’s like being crew, not passengers.

My school starts on Monday and I feel good about it.

Josie is my doll. I like her a lot. I pretend that she is my little sister. I’m trying to spend my money on another Josie which is $42 so that they can be twins. I’m saving my money to try to get $42. I have saved $8 so far.
