Hi Abby:
I have been hearing a lot of woodpeckers around here recently. Guess I'll have to try and check to see if they are males or females!
Woodpeckers come to my bird feeder every day. I get downy woodpeckers, hairy woodpeckers, and red-bellied woodpeckers.
Once in a while I see a pileated woodpecker in the woods behind my house, but it has never come to the feeder. They are much larger than all the other woodpeckers.
I'll have to try and take some pictures of the various woodpeckers and send them to you.
