The Great Gatsby Chapter 2

"The eyes of Doctor T.J. Eckleburg are blue and gigantic -- their retinas are one yard high"(Page 23). That is interesting to me because that is very descriptive and it could be what the eyes are on the cover. "But his eyes, dimmed a little by many paint less days under sun and rain, brood on over the solemn dumping ground"(Page 24). That is relating to what you can see and why he feel that way. "The only car visible was the dust-covered wreck Ford"(Page 25). I find that very dark and ashes."The man peered doubtfully into the basket, plunged in his hand and drew one up, wriggling, by the back of the neck"(Page 27). that is a very weird way to hold a dog/puppy. "The apartment was on the top floor- a small living room, a small dining- room, a small bedroom, and a bath"(Page 29). Why do they describe the apartment that way? "She lived with a girl friend at a hotel"(Page 30). Are you allowed to live in a hotel full time? "Creaking pivot through the smoky air"(Page 31). That sounds a little like the eyes. " I wouldn't think of changing the light"(Page 31). It seems like the apartment is always dark."Well they say he's a nephew or a cousin of Kaiser Wilhelm's"(Page 32). Will we learn about how she got her information form that?

The Great Gatsby Cover

I see eyes with a person inside of it. The eyes are in made of a human I guess losing their mind and imagination and seeing people though the eyes.
The red lips are that splash of light in his life.
The bottom is how many times he though he was on the right track and then it blew up in his face.
Explosion and Imagination because sometimes when you use your imagination you think that it is going to be great and then something happens and it ends up being an explosion.

The green light on the cover is a big part of the book because it is present all the time when Nick is with Gatsby.

Does the American Dream end up exploding before you feel that you are really living it? I think it does because you try so hard to do what you think is the American Dream and it blows up in your face before you can succeed.

Reflection On The Color of Water Chapters 24,25,Epologue

"I never knew how suck he was"(254). I feel like that is a huge part in why it is so hard for her to give up the church because so many things don't go her way and she wants to b the one that takes responsibility for it and she can't. "It took many years to find our who she was partly because I never knew who I was"(261). You can figure out who you are but if you can't do that and you trying to help someone else it is so though to do. "I had to find out more about who I was, and in order to find out who I was, I had to find out who my mother was"(266). I think when he is finding himself he is also finding out how his mom was raised too." My own life was rebuilt"(270). I find that very interesting because the more he finds out about his mom the more he really understands his life. "After the trip, she and Frances picked up where their high school friendship left off and remain close today"(274). He helped his mom face her past than run away from it."Mommy has created her own nation"(277). It all started because she left her life behind to make a better life for her kids and that is what he is finding out.

Reflection of Color of Water Chapters 21, 22, 23

"Don't come back"(215). I think her dad just doesn't know how to handle things when they are different and he doesn't agree with them. It is kinda like a bird who gets its wings and flies away and never comes back to the nest. "He told me Mameh had just passed away"(216). It is hard for her to lose someone and she has never tried to hurt anyone. "The Jew in me was dying anyway, but truly died when my mother died"(218). I feel like that was finally when she started to notice that she could be the person she always wanted to be. "Everything she had known was gone"(221). I feel that it was interesting because he is trying to figure out more about his mothers childhood they really know nothing." The tape is running"(227). I feel like he was doing that so that he could get his mom the help that she needed. "I'll still be your mother when you come back"(232). That is something that a mom would really say that she really cares."I accepted Jesus that day and He has never let me down form that day to this"(235). I find that interesting that she would do that and leaver her life all the way behind her. "He got worse and worse, and during this time I missed my period"(242). I feel that it was a very stressful time in her life and also to now think that she has another kid on the way the is not fun at all. "Part of me died when Dennis died"(244). She had to figure out how to go in it alone and try to raise her kids by herself.

Reflection Color of Water 18,19,20

"She hates the South"(180). I feel like she hates the south more because she feels that her kids really don't fit in with segregation."Yet she wanted me to go"(189). She wants her kids to have a better life than what she is able to give them right now. "This was no joking matter for them"(195). He was very loyal to her and made her feel better about everything. "He was serious about his money"(198). I think that he was nervous that they would take his money. "Racism is a problem that should end just about the time we graduate"(204). It sill goes on today but not at that level. "The whole family is long gone"(210). I feel like they all left because they couldn't really see what was actually going on inside closed doors.

Reflection on Color of Water Chapters 15,16,17

"We can't see each other anymore"(153). I think was pretty angry about what was happening and she felt betrayed. "I'm going to the ceremony"(157). I think that she is finally realizing that after she graduates she doesn't have to deal with her parents anymore. "Get away from me!"(164). I feel like she snapping because she is losing what drives her everyday to keep moving forward. "I'll never learn to drive"(167). I think that is also something that happened to her she doesn't want to be seen driving. "Not just for me, but for anyone"(171). I feel like she is finally starting to realize that there is someone out there for her.

Reflection Color of Water Chapters 12,13,14

"He married her and made the baseball team his own, adding four more kids to make it twelve"(118). I think that it is interesting because I always feel that I am missing something. "Daddy's favorite was Walter, the most fun-loving and gregarious of his brothers"(121).  That is really interesting to me because he refers to them as by their first names not uncle so maybe he doesn't see them as uncles he just sees Hunter Jordan as dad. "He'd had a stoke"(126). That shocks me because was it the stress of not being able to be in Brooklyn or what. It would be hard for you to come back from and that is how he died. "My mother knew I was pregnant and in trouble"(129). Sometimes you need someone to help you and they just can't. " She made a few phone calls,  found a Jewish doctor in Manhattan , and took me to his office where I had an abortion"(134). I feel like that symbolizes to that is starting really let go of her past." I failed everything"(138). I think that day was hard for him because needed a dad figure in his life and he just didn't have it anymore."I was numb"(141). That is interesting he is kinda going though the same things that his mom did at his age."I can't forget it"(149). Chicken man is giving him advise that he wishes he would have taken when he was James age.
